So, I've gotten a lot of questions about using the Turmeric Balm as a face mask, and how that differs from using Turmeric powder on the face. Turmeric is enormously powerful and effective at calming inflammation but topically and internally.
Turmeric is: brightening, soothing, anti-inflammatory, exfoliating + … damn beautiful!
There are two main ways to use Turmeric topically:
- Balm / Cream: a balm is used to essentially keep an herb in place on your skin so that it can heal - the turmeric balm is made with a base of shea and local beeswax which also helps to nourish and moisturize the skin. Using the balm as a spot treatment or hydrating mask is a simple and effective way to use turmeric.
- As a DIY mask: do you have a lot of powdered turmeric? Awesome! Infuse it in oil, or use it with flour + yogurt as a hydrating + brightening mask. Yogurt has all the good acne fighting probiotic bacteria so it's a great mask base!
